Olive M. Anderson, 98, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at River Pointe Senior Living, Moorhead, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Olive May Johnson was born on May 2, 1921, to Hildor and Elsie (Dove) Johnson in Little Sauk, MN. She grew up in Frazee, MN, and graduated from Frazee High School. She then worked as the secretary for the General Manager of Soo Line Railroad in Minneapolis, MN, during World War II and was the first woman to hold the position.
On December 8, 1945, Olive married Ervin Anderson in Minneapolis. They moved back to Frazee and in 1950 made their home in Moorhead. She became the bookkeeper at Moorhead Drug for many years until her retirement. Ervin passed away in 1994.
Olive enjoyed playing cards, cooking and entertaining family and friends. Everyone was welcome at her table for a cup of coffee and a sweet treat.
Olive is survived by her children, Susan (Gary) Anderson, Janis Albeck, Scott (Claudina) Anderson and Stacy (Eric Fischer) Wright; grandchildren, Kelly (Matt), Joy (Nathan), Tami (Kris), Chall (Tami), Wendy, Omar, Lisa, Karly and Alex; eight great-grandchildren and sister, Gloria Snamiska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Merle Johnson and sisters, Eleanor Olson, Loreen “Beaner” Thelen and Joyce Wothe.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Final resting place will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
