Oris E. "Super" Wenner, 89, of Hawley, Minnesota, died Monday, November 2, 2009, in MeritCare's Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, North Dakota.Oris was born April 28, 1920, at Hitterdal, Minnesota, to Albin and Olga Hitterdal Wenner. He was the sixth child of a family of eight. Oris grew up near Hitterdal, MN and graduated from Hitterdal High School. He was very active in sports including, basketball, football and baseball. Following high school he worked on the family farm, raising cattle and working in the field. Oris married Jewell Henrickson on December 28, 1944 in Hitterdal, MN. Together they purchased a farm in rural Hitterdal in 1946 where the resided and farmed until moving to Hawley in 2007. Oris also worked at the Armour Packing Plant, American Crystal Sugar and Sellins. Oris served on the Hitterdal School Board and Hitterdal Elevator Board.Oris played independent baseball and basketball with the Hawley Hawks, and basketball and softball with the Hitterdal Green Waves for a number of years. He continued to play softball until the age of seventy-two.He is survived by his wife, Jewell, Hawley; one son, Rick Evie Wenner, Hitterdal; three daughters, Ginger Merlyn Petermann, Hawley, Penny Dean Jallo, Hawley, and Cindy Wenner, Lake Park; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren; one brother, Arthur, Moorhead; and one sister, Myrtle Bob Swanson, Moorhead.Oris was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leonard, Wilfred and Lloyd; and two sisters, Irene Langseth and Adeline Wolff.
