Orlyn P. Kragerud

Orlyn P. Kragerud, 76, Moorhead, MN, died on Sunday, December 20, 2009, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.Orlyn was born on October 29, 1933, in Rothsay, MN, to Allen and Agnes Engelson Kragerud. He grew up and attended school there, graduating from Rothsay High School in 1951. He went to work at the Rothsay Co-op Creamery until 1953, when he entered the U.S. Air Force where he was stationed at the Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento, CA. Orlyn married Jacqueline Ness on March 3, 1956 at Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton, MN. They lived in Sacramento until he was discharged from the Air Force in 1957. They returned to Wolverton where they operated the Kragerud Café from 1964 until 1976. He went to work at the Oxbow Country Club at Oxbow, ND, where he took care of all the maintenance equipment until retiring in 1999. In retirement he enjoyed working part-time for area farmers. Orlyn loved the outdoors and enjoyed tending his yard. He had a talent for, and took pleasure in fixing things.Orlyn is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Kragerud; three sons, Ron Dianna Kragerud, Fargo, ND, Keith Norma Kragerud, Moorhead, MN, and Jeff Sarah Kragerud, Fargo, ND; one daughter, Pam Steve Trowbridge, Moorhead, MN; six grandchildren, Kristen David Schultz, Jenna and Annalise Kragerud, Jacob, Mikaela, and Grant Trowbridge; great-grandson, Grayden Schultz; brothers, Jim Carol Kragerud, Brownsberg, IN, and Bob Randee Kragerud, Payson, AZ; sisters, Nevida Anderson, Fergus Falls, MN, Janice Don Grouws, Norwalk, CA, and Nettie Orland Stephenson, Moorhead, MN; brother-in-law, Chuck Rice, Merino Valley, CA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Mary Rice.
