Orris D. Ronsberg

Orris D. Ronsberg, 88, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Eventide on Eighth in Moorhead, MN.

Orris Duane Ronsberg was born April 7, 1928 in rural Hawley, MN, to Ole and Mathilda Pederson Ronsberg. After attending school in Barnesville, he worked on the family farmstead in rural Hawley.

In 1951, Orris enlisted in the Army and served at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin for two years. After honorable discharge in 1953, he worked for Firestone Tire for three years.

in 1956, Orris married Ann J. Odegard of Dalton, MN and they made their home in Moorhead, MN. Orris and Ann were married for twenty-five years, and raised four children.

Orris was employed at Ed Philips and Sons for 31 years, retiring in 1987. During retirement, Orris enjoyed dancing, playing the concertina, and traveling by car.

Orris is survived by one sister, Helen Arthur Nelson, Moorhead, MN; and by his four children, Donna Herlihy Joe of Moorhead, MN, Jean Close Clifford of Bloomington, IL, Keith Ronsberg of Sugarland, TX, and Mary Lund Larry of Austin, TX; and eight grandchildren, Sarah Herlihy, Naomi Close Wilcox Eric, Leah Close, Isaiah Close, David Close, Josiah Lund, Zachariah Lund, Nathanial Lund; one great-grandchild, Elizabeth Wilcox; and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

Orris was preceded in death by his parents Ole and Mathilda; three brothers, Marvin Ronsberg of Barnesville, Leland Ronsberg Joann of Jamestown, and Curtis Ronsberg Barbara of Barnesville; and one sister, Bernice Aitken Paul of Minneapolis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5-7 pm with a prayer service to begin at 6 pm in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2016, with Pastor Bill Ahlfeldt presiding and a luncheon immediately following.

Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.

The family would like to thank Eventide Senior Living Communities, Sanford Medical Center, and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their care of Orris during his final days.
