Orvis Harold Olson

Orvis Harold Olson, 75, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, in Lake Park, MN. Orvis was born on October 23, 1945, to Louie and Ovedia (Lindstrom) Olson in Detroit Lakes, MN. He graduated from Lake Park High School and continued working on the family farm as the 4th generation of the homestead.

Orvis was united in marriage to Marlene Bergquist on June 15, 1969, and together they moved to the family farm. He operated his family farm and drove school bus for Lake Park Schools for over 30 years. In 1995, Orvis established Olson Farm and Gravel. In 2015, Orvis retired, and he and Marlene moved to Lake Park, MN. His son Kyle continues to live on the farm and run the family business.

Orvis was a founding member of Midnight Riders Snowmobile Club and the Cormorant Lakes Sportsman Club. He was the Supervisor for Cormorant Township and the Weed Inspector for Becker County. He was quite involved in local community clubs and organizations such as 4-H and Jaycees. He was also a lifelong member of Cormorant Lutheran Church.

Orvis is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; sons, Kyle (Samantha) Olson and Chad (Amy) Olson; grandchildren, Brittany (Nathaniel Silva), Drew, and Carly Sue; step-grandchildren, Tabitha, Sabrina, and David; siblings, Arlo Olson, Lyden (Pat) Olson, LaVay (Ed) Stover, and Sandra Faus; and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Ovedia; sister, Marlys and Arvid Nelson; sister-in-law, June Olson; and special nephew and niece, Mark and Debbie Nelson.

A private family memorial service will be held on Monday, November 30, 2020, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN, with a livestream of the service available at 1:00 P.M. on Orvis’ webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com where a video tribute and guestbook may also be found.

A celebration of Orvis’ life will be held at a later date.
