Otis J. Larson, 87, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Wolverton, MN, passed away at Eventide Nursing Home in Moorhead, MN November 3, 2012. Otis was born to Roy and Ida Larson, Wolverton on January 23, 1925. He grew up and lived on the family farm and graduated from Wolverton High School in 1943.Otis married Madge Thies of Sabin, MN on September 17, 1949. They resided on the family farm until June of 2004 when they moved to Moorhead. Otis and Madge had a wonderful life together and dearly loved their family.Otis had many life long friends in the local communities. Otis was a hard working farmer. He had a mechanical mind, was a creative problem solver and was always devising his own unique solutions. Additionally, Otis enjoyed baseball, singing, dancing and playing the trombone. He was an excellent caretaker throughout his life.Anyone who knew Otis, was aware that he loved to sing and was a member of Great Plains Harmony FM Barbershop Chorus including several quartets for over 40 years. Neither the highway patrol nor blizzards deterred him from barbershop practice, shows, events or his daughters' school activities in Breckenridge.Otis was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wolverton and enjoyed singing in the choir. He also served on various community boards and the Eventide Board for several years.Survivors include: Mona Rick Hansen, Fishers, IN; Mary Arth, Fargo; Linda Kent Larson-Adams, Brooklyn, NY. also surviving are his grandchildren: Angela Jason Lokken, Moorhead; Jesse Estela Lokken, Chicago, IL; Andrew Arth, Columbia, MO; James Emily Arth, Columbia, MO; Frank Adams, Brooklyn, NY; three step-grandchildren: Derrick Hansen, Fargo; Kristin Leo Budija, Shakopee, MN; Janna Hansen, Jamestown, ND. Five great-grandchildren: Alexander Lokken, Chicago, IL; Sailyr and Portia Hansen, Fargo; Jack and Joe Budija, Shakopee, MN.Other survivors include: sister, Thelma Johnson, Minneapolis; nieces and nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Otis was preceded in death by his wife Madge, his parents Roy and Ida, brother William and infant sister Angeline. Memorials may be given to: Faith Lutheran Church of Wolverton, Great Plains Harmony, Eventide Lutheran Home or Alzheimer's Research.
