Paul E. Beltz

Paul E. Beltz, age 79, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017.
Paul was born on January 3, 1938, in Traill County to Otto and Nora Bohnsack Beltz. He graduated from Caledonia High School and served in the Army from October 7, 1955, until October 6, 1958. In December 1960, he married Sonja K. Knutson at St. Petri Church in Nielsville, MN. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Reserve Mining in Babbitt, MN, and then for the Minnesota Job Service in Ely, Moorhead, and Crookston.
Paul was very active at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and enjoyed serving in many different roles. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, camping, salmon fishing, gardening, canning, clam digging, and attending his grandkid’s sporting and scouting events.
For Paul and Sonja’s 40th wedding anniversary, they traveled to Norway. For their 50th wedding anniversary, they went to Hawaii. Paul was looking forward to planning their 60th.
He is survived by his wife, Sonja; children, Susan Raymond Holmes, Valerie David Lahtonen, and Steven Jolene Flath; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Lyndsie Holmes, Jaymey Katie Holmes, Jennifer Holmes, Matthew Lahtonen, Megan Lahtonen, Hunter Beltz, Jonathan Beltz, and Shelby Pearson; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Kameron; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane; and a sister, Laura.
