Paul K. Sander

Paul Sander died at home in Lake Park, MN on Friday June 25^th, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Paul was born April 13^th, 1957 in Breckenridge, MN to Kenneth and Muriel (Snyder) Sander and was baptized and confirmed in Christ at First English Lutheran Church, Fairmount, ND.  He spent his early years in rural Fairmont, ND.  Following his graduation from Fairmount High School where he active in band and lettered in football, Paul went on to get his degree in Printing & Graphic Arts from the North Dakota State College of Science.  He then moved to Hawley, MN where he met the love of his life, Debra (Askelson) Sander, who he then married on October 20^th, 1979.  Paul spent 43 proud years working at Forum Communications as a Pre-Press Technician.

Paul was an incredibly sweet natured person as he made a point to proactively help anyone who he felt needed a hand with their house, car, garden, or their personal well-being.  While being a man of few words, he always knew the right ones to make you feel more uplifted and positive.  Paul enjoyed fishing, photography, spending time with his grandkids and always being busy with his hands.  He and his friend Danny Cederberg were able to rebuild a house from scratch as well as remodel the home where he first grew his family.

Intensely curious, Paul had a passion for knowledge as he continuously read and researched various topics of religious and mythical history.  He enjoyed the viewpoints and opinions of others as he made a point to keep an open mind to the world.  Always engaging with people on social media, Paul easily made friends from various countries and backgrounds.  He was heavily respected by all he interacted with personally and virtually.

Paul is survived by his wife, Debra; son Matthew Sander of Lake Park, MN, and Natalie (Charles) Slininger of Rosemount, MN; his mother, Muriel Sander of Wahpeton, ND; mother-in-law, LaVonne Askelson; sister, Joan (Randy) Engebretson; 7 brothers and sisters in-law; two grandchildren, Ryan and JoLynn Slininger; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Sander.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1^st at 2pm in the Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30^th from 4:00pm until 7:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley, MN.
