Paul W. Van Tassel, age 77, of Grand Junction, CO, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 5, 1929 in Fargo, North Dakota the son of Conrad and Marie Jermasik Van Tassel. He married Arletta Ostlie on January 5, 1954 at the Chapel in the Sky in Chicago, Illinois. Paul graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1947, he later graduated from the Dakota Business College in Fargo, ND. He then served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Paul worked for U.S. West Telephone Company for over 33 years retiring in 1986. He and his wife, Arletta then moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1987. He volunteered for over 10 years at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, and was a member of the DAV, and VFW in Grand Junction. Paul was also a member of the American Legion Post in Brainerd, MN. Paul enjoyed fishing, bowling and camping and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, CO.Survivors include his loving wife, Arletta of Grand Junction; four children, Sandra Mike Dalenberg of Durango, CO, Mark Peggy Van Tassel of Robbinsville, NJ, Paula Rick Rask of Bismarck, ND, and Kathleen Charles Hartman Van Tassel of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren, Travis, Drew and Lee Dalenberg; Amy and Brett Van Tassel; Matthew and Laryssa Rask; special friend, Missy; and several cousins.Memorial contributions may be given to Alpine Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
