Pauli G. Worth

July 19, 1953 — November 26, 2005

Worth, Pauli Gold, age 52, of Moorhead, Minnesota passed away peacefully on November 26, 2005 at Bethany Homes in Fargo, North Dakota. Pauli was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 19, 1953 to Doris Weisenbach Gold and Harold Gold, both of Cleveland. Pauli grew up in Cleveland and displayed exceptional ability in music and art at an early age. She began piano lessons with her mother at age 4 and was a featured performer in the Cleveland area as a youngster including a guest appearance on the Merv Griffin show with Roger Williams. As a high school senior, she had to choose between full scholarships at the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Cleveland Institute of Music, eventually deciding on a career in music. It was at the Cleveland Institute of Music that she met her future husband, David Worth, and they married May 21, 1977. After graduating from CIM, she pursued graduate studies at the University of Michigan as a student of Gyorgy Sandor. Pauli moved to Moorhead to join her husband, a music faculty member at Concordia College, in 1977. She performed frequently as a solo pianist and also with David as a duo pianist including live radio broadcast performances with J. Robert Hanson and the F-M Symphony and at the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. Pauli maintained a private piano studio throughout her adult life, training several students who eventually went on to earn graduate degrees in piano performance and who now enjoy their own careers in music. She also taught as an adjunct professor at Concordia College.Pauli will be remembered in many ways by many people. She displayed a spirited zest for life with a special love of nature. If it wiggled, crawled or flew, Pauli owned a book about it and would spend countless hours in happy observation during nature outings with her family. Her passion for cats was legendary, symbolized with a twinkle in her eye by naming her beloved Siamese kitty, "Vladimir," after the great Russian pianist, Vladimir Horowitz. Pauli's legacy includes much magnificent music-making and, above all else, her two beautiful children, Lauren and Christopher, themselves launched on meaningful lives of service and productivity. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold, and her two brothers, Randy and Goeffry. She is survived by her sister Cindi Cody and her spouse, Jim Cody of Phoenix Arizona; niece Lindsey Cody; daughter Lauren Semerad and her spouse, Dr. David Semerad of DuPont Washington; son Christopher of Omaha Nebraska; her mother, Doris Gold, of Fargo North Dakota and her husband of 28 years, David Worth of Moorhead, Minnesota.
