Peter Donald “Pete” Teigen

Peter “Pete” Donald Teigen, 79, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Hawley, MN, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in his home in Moorhead.

Pete was born on July 27, 1943, to Donald and Averille (Swick) Teigen in Seattle, WA. He grew up in Detroit Lakes, MN, where he graduated from High School. He attended Detroit Lakes Vocational Technical School where he was one of the first to graduate through the autobody repair program at that school. He was united in marriage to Carol Taggart on January 18, 1964, in Thief River Falls, MN. They moved to Hawley, MN, where Pete began his career at Mickelson Autobody as an autobody mechanic for over thirty years. He took a position at Hawley High School as a custodian for approximately ten years prior to his retirement in 2005. Pete and Carol moved to Moorhead shortly after to be closer to family where he resided until his passing.

Pete was a member of the Hawley Fire Department for 20 years. He was also a member of the Hawley Jaycee’s, Eagles club, and a very proud member of the Plainsmen Black Powder Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and the outdoors. He loved wood carving and was known for his talent to fix almost anything. Above all, Pete loved his family and was very proud of his grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Lynn (Riley) Tweet; grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda) Tweet and Tanner Tweet; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol; parents, Donald and Averille; and sister, Pamela Ann Houglum.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., followed by the funeral service at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN, following the service.
