Phyllis Wilson was born on March 16, 1931, in Moorhead, MN, to Julius and Pearl Dehn Wilson. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from the Moorhead State Campus School. Phyllis married Ben Layton on June 5, 1971, in Hawley, MN, and they farmed south of Hawley before moving into Hawley in 1978. She worked as telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone in Detroit Lakes, MN, for many years. She also worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company and Buy Rite in Detroit Lakes. Phyllis was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She collected antiques and had a booth at the Moorhead Antique Mall. She had a "green thumb" with houseplants and flowers. She enjoyed cooking and was a very generous person. She is survived by her husband Ben, Hawley, MN; daughter Ginger Michael Zorro, Hawley, MN; son Marc Bonnie Erickson, Billings, MT; two grandchildren, Cory Fiance' Heather Christianson and Lacey Cameron Abell.
