Phyllis Edna Nymark

Phyllis Edna (Kaste) Nymark, 94, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Eventide on 8^th, Moorhead, MN.

Phyllis was born on February 17, 1930, to Anna (Dale) and Iver Kaste at their farm home in Garfield township, rural Fertile, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Little Norway Church in Fertile. She attended Lakeview Country School and graduated from Fertile High School in 1947. She then went on to Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. She worked as a secretary at Minneapolis Moline Fargo Office and some years later at Dakota Electric Suppply, then at American Crystal Sugar.

Phyllis lived at the YWCA while working until she met her husband to be at the roller-skating rink where her and her friends spent a lot of time. Phyllis and Palmer Nymark were married in 1950 by Palmer’s father. They were blessed with six children.  

In 1976, they established Sher’s Kitchen in Moorhead, then in 1983, Mom’s Kitchen in Fargo.

Phyllis was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, at the American Legion, and the VFW.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Steve (Sheri) Nymark, Susan Muchow, Roger (Lorie) Nymark, Richard (Susan) Nymark, Diane (Jerry) Sather, and Barbara (Kenny) Porteous; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Orv (Robin) Kaste; sister, Gladys Bohmer; sisters-in-law, Myra Kaste and Jean Talley; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Palmer; parents, Anna and Iver; parents-in-law, Rev. John and Esther Nymark; brother, Ken Kaste; sisters, Opal Abbott and Irene Peterson; sisters-in-law, Barbara Nymark and Jo Carroll; and brothers-in-law, Art Peterson, Lester Gustafson, Fred Bohmer, Jim Talley, and Paul Nymark.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the prayer service at 7:00 P.M., Monday, April 22, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Wright Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN, following the services at the funeral home.
