Ralph James Blakeway died October 20, 2009, at the age of 79 of brain cancer. Ralph was born May 6, 1930 to Thomas P. and Antonge Blakeway in Moorhead, MN. He married Ardis Isaacson on February 18, 1951, and they had two children. Ralph lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area his entire life. He worked as a Pressman for various printing companies in the area retiring from Knight Printing in the mid 1990's. Ralph loved to fish and hunt. He spent many years on Minnesota lakes. Ralph also enjoyed fishing trips on the ocean with his brother-in-law in Seattle where they would catch salmon. He loved to tell the story of fishing with Jerry, his son-in-law and Jerry's father, Leo, on Cormorant Lake. Leo grilled huge steaks this size of a roast for everyone. Ralph enjoyed taking his grandchildren out in his boats so they could catch sunnies. Ralph and Ardis looked forward to their weekends at the trailer so they could just relax and visit with family and friends. Ralph enjoyed his grandchildren and he always had a dog as a companion.Ralph leaves behind two daughters, Jana Jerry Steffan of Champlin, MN, Jamie Blakeway of West Fargo, ND; six grandchildren, Jeremy, Janson and Joslin Steffan, Taylor Blakeway and Cassidy and Gunnar Blakeway-Walen; great-grandson, William Marohl-Steffan; and sister, Dorothy Blakeway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis; and brothers, Sidney and Thomas Blakeway.Dad chose a very special day to leave this earth – he went to Heaven to celebrate mom's birthday with her. We are sure his dog, Lady, was also there waiting at Heaven's Gates to welcome him and beg him to fill her bone with meat and cheese. We love you dad and we'll miss you. Until later…
