Ramona Jean (Trenkenschuh) Kooren, 85, of Hawley, MN, graduated to the heavenly realm on Saturday, December 28, 2018, in Hawley Senior Living, MN, surrounded by family and friends.
Ramona was born on March 18, 1933 to Frank and Florence (Wicka) Trenkenschuh in Dickinson, ND. She graduated from Dickinson High School. She was united in marriage to Henry Kooren on June 20, 1951 in Dickinson where they resided until 1966 when they moved to Fargo. In 1975, they moved to Rollag, MN. In 2004, they moved to Hawley, MN. Henry passed away on November 27, 2008.
Henry and Ramona maintained lifelong friendships wherever they lived. Ramona’s smile, laughter, and love of the Church and community endeared her to many. Her generous nature allowed her to always lend a helping hand. She treasured all children, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a caring mother, Ramona enjoyed working outside the home. She especially loved her work for the Clay County Historical Society and for the US Census, which gave her the opportunity to meet many people. Her strong work ethic brought her much success in her life and career.
Ramona is survived by her children, Dennis (Karen) Kooren, Jeff (Amy) Kooren, and Greg Kooren; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brother, LeRoy (Miyoko) Trenkenschuh; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Florence; loving husband, Henry; son, Terry; grandson, Shane Kooren; siblings, Russell Warner, RoseAnne Bender, and Fr. Frank Trenkenschuh.
Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 P.M. in St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Hawley, MN on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. A time of sharing will be held during the Mass. Burial will be in the spring at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
Memorials may be designated to Hawley Senior Living or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
