Randall R. Pettengill

Randall “Randy” R. Pettengill, 72, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in his home in Moorhead, MN.

Randall “Randy” Richard Pettengill was born on November 5, 1942, in Hanover, IL, to Mahlon and Martha Hughes Pettengill. He grew up in La Porte City, IA, where he graduated from high school. Randy then served in the United States Navy until 1965. On July 29, 1967, he married Carol Neuman in Iowa. In 1976 they moved to Moorhead, MN, where they raised their two children, Becky and John. Randy was employed by Simplex Time Recorder until 1980 when he started his own business, Special Systems.

Randy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed hockey, fishing, reading and working around the yard. Randy was a very caring man, who loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Randy and Carol also extended their home to care for USHL hockey players for several years.

Randy is survived by his wife of 48 years, Carol Pettengill, Moorhead; daughter, Becky Matt Davis, Sabin, MN; son, John Pettengill Erika Olson, Mandan, ND; grandchildren, Tori, Betsy, Grace and Alex Davis; his siblings, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Gathering: Sunday, Nov. 1, from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Service: Monday, Nov. 2, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment: St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
