Randy Hintzen, 61, Fargo, died Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Herman “Randy” Hintzen was born July 9, 1953 to Walter and Lucille Neurhing Hintzen in Mason City, IA. When Randy was quite young the family moved to Perham , MN and bought Big Pine Resort. Randy graduated from Perham High School and went on to attend the technical college at Detroit Lakes for 2 years in the auto-technician program. In 1973 he was married to Linda Hendrickson and they had 3 children together. They were divorced in 2002. Randy worked for 10 years for Tomlinson Lumber in Callaway, MN and was also a proud volunteer firefighter for the Callaway Fire Department. Randy then became self-employed in the trucking business, owning Hintzen Trucking from 1986 to 1994. He then went on to work for Foltz Trucking and Midnite Express until 2000 when his health began failing greatly.
Randy enjoyed many hobbies including model cars, drawing, playing whist, classic cars, deer hunting, and especially woodworking. Randy was a huge Vikings fan and his biggest wish in life was to live by the lake. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Randy is survived by his 3 children, Barbara Hintzen, Fargo, Bruce Shera Hintzen, Rapid City, SD, and Brandon Hintzen, Moorhead; brother Gilbert Hintzen, Dilworth, and half-brother Larry Olthoff, Mason City, IA; half-sister Beverly Olthoff, Garner, IA; grandchildren Cory, Dylan, Kaylie and Skylar Hintzen, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leigh Hintzen.
