Raul Badillo Sr.

Raul Badillo Sr, son of Roberto and Maria (Contreras) Badillo, died January 31, 2023. He was born on April 24, 1961, in Weslaco, Texas, and he resided in Mercedes, Texas, until he moved to Moorhead, Minnesota in his late 30s where he resided until his passing.

Raul was very ambitious and was a shoeshine boy when he was young, and later worked as a farmworker with his family traveling to the Midwest. When he moved to North Dakota he was a Paraprofessional with the Moorhead Public School district and touched the many lives of his students. He also was a skilled meat cutter, working a 2nd job as a butcher for Supervalue Foods. He was consistently getting recognition from both jobs as a model employee for his attention to detail and superb customer service.

Anyone who met Raul would say he was one of a kind. Raul was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys, and he also was a huge fan of the automotive scene. He owned many cars in his life and enjoyed attending car shows with his family. He also enjoyed outdoor cooking and grilling. Raul was a jack of all trades.

Raul had 2 children, Raul Badillo Jr and Jeanette Badillo from his 1st marriage to Ernestina Pena and had 5 grandchildren, Makenzie Janiszewski, Niveah Badillo, Christian Badillo, Rayden Rodriguez, Ryley Rodriguez. He is also survived by his great-granddaughter, Vaeda Lee Janiszewski; siblings, Rodolfo (Olga) Badillo, Roberto (Blanca) Badillo, Rosie (David) Gonzalez, Rogelio Badillo, Ricardo (Emma) Badillo, Rita Badillo-Palomo, Rebecca (Ramon) Vasquez, Rolando (Kelli) Badillo, Rachel Badillo, and Ronald Badillo; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roberto and Maria.

Raul met Martha Castanon 1993 and in 2004 they started dating. He always referred her to others as his wife. They were together until his death at their residence.

Raul will be greatly missed. May his soul fly high.

Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 6:30 P.M., Monday, February 6, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
