Ray was born July 5, 1918 in Alice, ND, to William T. and Laura Ericca Hagen Treese. He graduated from Hawley High School in 1936, worked as an auto mechanic in South Dakota for three years, two of those years in the Civilian Conservation Corps, and managed a grain elevator for three years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 until 1945 as a tank mechanic. He landed on Omaha beach on D-Day. After returning from the war he worked at Rollag Implement and then owned and operated Ray Treese Repair. Ray was a charter member and worked at Rollag Steam Thresher's Reunion and was their parade marshal one year. On August 27, 1983 he married Mae Floberg Regstad at Solem Lutheran Church. Ray was a member of the Clay County Historical Society, Western Minnesota Steam Thresher's Reunion and Solem Lutheran Church of rural Hawley, MN. He is survived by his wife Mae of Hawley, MN; step-daughter, Marilyn Bob Mills of Fresno, CA; nephew, Ron McDougall of Concord, CA; niece, Julie Madura of Arden Hills, MN; great nieces and nephews and many friends. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leo Treese; sister, Hazel McDougall; nephew, Jack Treese; and step-sons, David and Robert Regstad.
