Raymond “Ray” Kline

Raymond “Ray” N. Kline, age 78, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at his home.

Ray graduated in 1961 from Moorhead High School. Following high school Ray would join the Army National Guard. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1962 to 1965. Ray’s early jobs included Leeby’s Foods where he met his wife Diane (Cook) Kline, SS Construction and Simons Warehouse. Ray was married to his wife of 57 years Diane on August 30, 1964.

Ray served his community as a firefighter for the City of Moorhead for nearly 30 years. He also owned a small drapery installation business. Retiring in 1999, Ray would then pursue a series of jobs most notably maintaining the fairways and greens at both Town and Country and The Meadows in Moorhead.

Ray was a jack of all trades, and classic do it yourselfer. He was also fantastic at procrastinating. Regardless, Ray would build and rebuild many of the spaces his family and friends would come to enjoy at his home on the North side of Moorhead.

Ray spent several years hunting wildlife across the State of Montana from Terry to Sula. But his favorite was the Bob Marshal National Forest Northeast of Missoula. For many years, he would enjoy going far into Canada every spring with a group of his pals to fish and camp in the wilderness. Many stories, some true and some false would return from those voyages north.

Ray coached Babe Ruth Baseball for three years in the late 1980s, including taking the Moorhead 13-year-old team to a runner up finish at the 1988 Babe Ruth State Tournament.

Ray and Diane would travel frequently to Montana in their early years and then throughout the country in their later years including several winters in Arizona and Texas.

Ray is survived by his wife Diane, son Wade (Ann Arbor Miller) and grandson Mason. Ray was preceded in death by his parents Orvis and Florence (Olson) Kline, brother Roger and sister Marilyn.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 10:00 A.M., with a visitation starting one hour before, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. A livestream will be available starting at 10:00 A.M. here on Ray’s page.
