Rebecca J. O'Meara

Rebecca (Becky) J. O’Meara, 51, of Moorhead, MN passed away in her home with family by her side on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Becky was born January 14, 1973, in Grand Forks, ND to Gordon and Sandra (Mondry) Holtan. She grew up in Fargo and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1991. She had a son, Jacob, in 1991 and later attended Moorhead State University.  

Becky married Thomas O’Meara in 2000 and they had two children, Brenden and Cassidy. They later divorced and Rebecca met her life partner, Tim Ness. She worked for Connections in Moorhead for many years helping people with disabilities find employment, until she had to step away due to health issues. Her passion for advocating for those in need left a lasting impact on countless lives. She was always the first to lend a helping hand, offering support, empathy, and her time to anyone who needed it. 

Becky was a nurturing, protective, selfless mother who enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events and supporting them in any way she could. She loved attending stand-up comedy and community events with her partner, Tim. She was a lifelong learner, passionate about reading and writing all kinds of content. She loved being outdoors in the sunshine, tending to her flowers and greenery, with the help of her golden doodle, Annie. She was very creative and loved drawing and creating art. Her love for music filled her life and home, whether she was listening to her favorite songs or sharing her appreciation with others. A competitive spirit came through in her love for ping pong, board games, and card games, where she could often be found playing with family and friends, her laughter and joy lighting up the room. 

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love, strength, inspiration, and perseverance will live on in the memories of those who were lucky enough to know her. 

Becky is survived by her partner, Tim Ness; children, Brenden O’Meara and Cassidy (Sterling) O’Meara; and her golden doodle, Annie. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Holtan and Sandra Mackichan; son, Jacob Holtan; and grandmother, Betty Hughes.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 2:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Final resting place will be in Holy Cross North Cemetary, Fargo, ND.
