Renilda Lavonne Olson went to her heavenly home at the age of 92 at Sunnyside Care Center near Lake Park on Monday, March 20, 2017, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Renilda Eitel was born on January 14, 1925 as the third child of Herman and Clara Neldner on the family farm near Sebeka, MN. She weighed all of 2 ½ pounds! She attended country school near her home and graduated from Sebeka High School in 1942. As an expert seamstress, Renilda was first runner-up to the 4H State Style Queen. She attended teacher’s training in Park Rapids, where she roomed with Harriet Olson later Davis who invited her home for a weekend where Renilda met her future husband, Willis L. Olson. Renilda and Willis were united in marriage on June 14, 1945. For more than 50 years, they made their home in Glyndon, MN, where they raised their 3 children. Willis passed away in 2009 at the age of 88. He resided at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, where Renilda continued to make her home until recently.
In addition to sewing for her family, Renilda loved to cook and bake. She also knitted and crocheted, and many will remember the fancy looped booties they received when their babies were born.
Renilda is survived by her sons, Wayne D. Corene Olson of Pelican Rapids, Wendell of Hawley; daughter, Renae of White Bear Lake; grandsons, Ryan Einerwoldof Minneapolis, Randy TKEinerwold of St. Paul and Brett Olson of Pelican Rapids; granddaughters, Krista Don Wacker of Barnesville and Karla JasonWeum of Detroit Lakes;great-grandchildren, ZackryEinerwold, Zara Einerwold, Erik Einerwold, Torie Wacker, Madison Olson, Jaxon Weum, and Emma Weum; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willis, sister Isabelle Meyer, and brother Orville Eitel.
A gathering to celebrate Renilda’s life will be held at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley on Friday, March 24th, at 2:00PM with a visitation 1 hour prior to services.
A second services will take place on Friday, June 30th, at Zion North Germany Lutheran Church in Sebeka, MN at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery in Sebeka on June 30th following services at Zion North Germany Lutheran Church.
