Rev. Wayne Harland Wickoren

Reverend Wayne Harland Wickoren, 92, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2019, in Villa Maria Fargo, ND. Wayne was born on October 11, 1926, to Millard and Mary (Craig) Wickoren in McLeod, ND.

Wayne grew up in McLeod and graduated from Oak Grove High School in Fargo, ND. Wayne attended Augsburg University and the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts. He later attended Northwestern Lutheran Seminary of St. Paul, graduating with a Bachelor of Divinity. His first call to ministry was at Holy Trinity Church in Minneapolis, MN, where he served for 18 years. He also served ministries in Tucson, Houston, and other numerous churches. He was most proud of his service to those with drug addictions serving as the director of both the Drug Abuse Program for Pilot City Health Center, Minneapolis, MN, and the Methadone Program for Greater Minneapolis, Hennepin County Health Services.

Wherever Wayne went, whatever Wayne did, he gave himself completely to others. He loved food, particularly eating out. He loved to have a great conversation, tell stories, and laugh.

Wayne is survived by his numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lorraine.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. followed by the memorial service at 3:00 P.M., on Monday, July 15, 2019, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Final resting place will be at Freeman Cemetery, McLeod, ND, at a later date.
