Rhoda Elleen Berry, born 2 April 1922, daughter of Albert B. and Florence Owen Berry of Jasper County, Iowa, died 15 November 2016 at the age of 94. A graduate of Sully High School and American Institute of Business, she earned a degree in Business Administration and attended Indiana University. Berry was a cost accountant and branch office auditor with Meredith Publishing Company before entering the U.S. Navy in 1942. She served in the Disbursing Office at Headquarters 13th Naval District, Seattle, Wash., before shipping overseas in the War Zone, and was stationed at Puunene and Kahului Air Bases on Maui Island, Hawaii, until the war ended. Berry volunteered to stay on for the closing of the bases after the end of the war, and returned stateside in November 1945. She relocated from Iowa to Minnesota in 1946. On 4 October 1942 she married Olaf Roy Wicker in Jasper County, Iowa. Rhoda and Roy had the following children: Elizabeth, Thomas, Timothy, Christine, Aileen, Scott, Eric, Bryce, and Matthew, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her sisters, Alberta and Dorothy, her brother Jesse, and three children: Thomas, Aileen, and Bryce.
