Richard Allen Cossette

Richard Allen Cossette, 73, of West Fargo, ND, died December 12, 2020, at Sanford Health Medical Center in Fargo.

Richard was born October 19, 1947, in Moorhead, MN, to Marcel and Roslyn (Buth) Cossette.  He grew up in Downer, MN and the family later moved to Moorhead where he graduated from high school.  Richard was drafted into the Army and served from 1968 to 1970.  After his discharge, he was married and had two daughters, Jacquelyne and Brandie.  On January 26, 2004, Richard was united in marriage to Bridgette Hoy-Heller.

Over the years Richard worked for Cass Clay Creamery, Transystems and Bergseth Brothers.  He eventually became self-employed as a painting contractor and owned and operated RC Painting for over 30 years until his retirement.

Never one to sit idle, Richard loved to keep himself busy.  Visitors to their home were often treated to a new and frequently changing interior, as he loved to shop, decorate and re-paint frequently. He also enjoyed ice fishing, cooking, family gatherings, and especially spending time with his grandkids.

Richard is survived by his wife, Bridgette; daughters, Jacquelyne (Darin) Haugen and Brandie (Don) Vincent; stepsons, Shawn Heller, Jamie Heller, Chad Heller and Bradley Heller; brothers, Michael (Sharon) Cossette, Dale Cossette and Mitch (Ellie) Cossette; brother-in-law, Al Strunc; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren,  2 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Bonnie Strunc.

Visitation will be Friday, December 18, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. A private funeral service will be Saturday, December 19, 2020, at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at St. Benedict’s Cemetery, Wild Rice, ND.
