Richard "Bud" Johnson was born on March 7, 1927 in Hancock, MI to Hjalmer and Ethel Williams Johnson. He grew up and graduated high school in Ironwood, MI. Bud attended Michigan State University before serving in the United States Navy in WWII. When he returned from the Navy, Bud helped run the family business, Palace Clothiers. In 1955 he moved to Moorhead, MN to operate their store in Moorhead. Bud owned Palace Clothiers in Moorhead until his retirement in 1994, when he closed the store. On November 22, 1949, Bud married Judy Polovitz and together they had four children. Judy died in 1997. For the last 14 years, Bud enjoyed his companionship with his best friend, Ginny Moll. Bud enjoyed golfing and yard work. He was a past president of the Moorhead Rotary Club and the Greater Moorhead Days. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Moorhead Country Club. A special thanks to the many young men and women who worked for Bud over the years, your help was greatly appreciated. Bud is survived by his two sons, Rick Robin Johnson, Moorhead, MN and Bob Johnson, St. Paul, MN; daughter, Sharee Tim Erickson, Durango, CO; special friend, Ginny Moll, Moorhead, MN and her daughters, Julie Moll, Moorhead, MN and Lynn Tim Barber, San Diego, CA; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; son, Brad Johnson; and three brothers, Lloyd, Bob and Bill Johnson.In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
