Richard D. Philpott

Richard D. Philpott, 86, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012, in Sanford Health’s Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, ND. Richard was born December 3, 1926, in Sherman, TX, to Dessie and Mary Benson Philpott. He grew up and attended school in Sherman until moving with family to Los Angeles at the age of 16. After high school Richard entered the U.S. Navy and served during WWII. He later continued his education and used his training in electronics over the years. In February of 1946, Richard married Hazel Solee in Crookston, MN. Together they made their home in California and through the years spent the summers at their lake home on Lake Cormorant. In 2008, they moved to Moorhead, where they have resided since. Richard enjoyed planes, golfing, and fishing, but most of all spending time with family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Hazel; son, Bob; grandsons, Christopher, Daniel and Richard; great-granddaughters, Whitney and Courtnie; and sister, Lora Jean Lee.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gerry.

Funeral: Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
Interment: Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Buxton, ND.
