Richard (Dick) E. Goerndt age 70 passed away suddenly at his Moorhead home on October 30, 2020 surrounded by his family who loved him.
Dick was born in Breckenridge, MN to Ervin and Helen Goerndt, along with his identical twin Tom. He had a wonderful childhood growing up in a loving family with 4 siblings. He was active in scouting and achieved the level of Eagle Scout. Dick graduated from Breckenridge High School and moved to Moorhead to attend Moorhead State College. He was married to Mary Crosby on August 12, 1978 and had two children, Emily and Benjamin. He worked as a carpenter for Waters Construction in Fargo until his retirement in 2012. Dick was an avid reader and a weekly customer at the Moorhead Library. His breadth of knowledge on most any topic was amazing, and he was a most wanted player for any kind of trivia game. He also enjoyed a good game of poker in his younger years. His wry and dry sense of humor entertained family and friends. Dick was a person one could truly say was a good man. He lived a good life centered around his family who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Goerndt; mother, Helen (Griffin) Goerndt; and twin brother, Tom Goerndt.
He will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary (Crosby) Goerndt; daughter, Emily Goerndt; son Benjamin Goerndt; brother, David Goerndt; sisters, Janice (Goerndt) Palmer and Susan (Goerndt) Rumble; and many nieces and nephews.
For the safety of all, no funeral services are planned at this time. The family would appreciate any memories you have to share on the Wright Funeral Home website.
