Richard Ray “Rick” Hand

Richard “Rick” Ray Hand, 57, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 in his home in Moorhead. Rick was born on July 9, 1960, to Francis and Viola (Klinkhammer) Hand in Moses Lake, WA. He grew up in Mahnomen, MN and graduated from Mahnomen High School. Rick attended Moorhead Technical School for 2 years learning to become a Diesel Mechanic and worked for Halstad G&R Equipment shortly after.

Rick was united in marriage to Debra Voit on July 11, 1987 in Mahnomen, MN. They lived in Halstad for two more years until Rick accepted a position at Butler Machinery in Fargo. Rick continued to work at Butler until 2003, where he had the opportunity to become a diesel tech instructor in Wahpeton at NDSCS until 2017.

Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering in the garage. He enjoyed taking care of his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and his Jeep Wrangler, maintaining, and keeping them spotless. Rick was a talker and enjoyed being sociable, he was usually last to leave at social events. He was also a handy man, ready and determined to fix anything. He was always ready to help anyone, anytime, especially his family and neighbors. Above all, Rick loved his family most. His three sons meant the world to him and he would do anything for them. He loved to go on camping trips, attend their sports games and go to all their scouting events. He was protective, supportive, always present, and was ready to pass on his knowledge to his kids.

Rick is survived by his wife, Debbie; sons, Cory, Travis, and Brady Hand; mother, Viola Hand; siblings, Doug (Linda) Hand, LaVonne Hand, and Paul (Suzie) Hand; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Francis; father-in-law, Ervin Voit; niece, Jacqueline Hand; and nephew, Zachary Hand.

Visitation: Monday, January 22, 2018, from 5:00-6:30PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:30PM at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:00AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN.

Burial: Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in St Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery following the services in Moorhead.
