Richard “Wencho” Martinez

Richard, also known by many as Ricardo, Rick or Wencho, came to the Fargo-Moorhead area in the summer of 1965, with his family to work in the sugar beet fields. He continued to do so every summer, staying in the area permanently in 1973. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad and constructions jobs, most recently with Opatril Concrete Construction of Moorhead, MN. Richard is survived by his daughter, Melanie Lucas Middlebrook of Pawling, NY; grandchildren, Micaiah and Afton Middlebrook; his father, Raul Martinez of Austin, TX; siblings, Raul Jr. Irma Martinez, Oralia Antonio Delgado, Armando Gloria Martinez and Cynthia Martinez all of Mission, TX, Juan Cathy Martinez of Fargo, ND; and twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria; and brothers, Joe R. and Jesse Martinez.
