Rick S. Reilly

Rick Reilly, 51, of Fargo, ND, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Rick was born in Libby, MT on March 25, 1972, but grew up on the family farm in Crystal, ND.  He graduated from Valley High, Hoople, ND, in 1990.

Rick was very proud to have served in the United States Navy, joining in 1989, serving operations in the Persian Gulf War and the Indian Ocean.  He was honorably discharged in 1994.

Rick met Sheri Ellegard in 2000 and they were united in marriage on June 17, 2005.  They made their home in Fargo and loved being at their lake place with their lake family in Nevis, MN. 

Rick was an avid outdoorsman.  He enjoyed bird hunting and fishing, but mostly deer hunting at The Ranch near Bowman, ND.  He also enjoyed making wines and brewing great beers!  It was easy for Rick to make conversation with anyone, but he mostly liked to tell long stories and jokes with family and friends.  Rick will be remembered as a fun loving, honest and very kind man.

Rick is survived by his wife, Sheri; parents, Clyde and Carol; sisters, Marge (Loren), Lisa (Aaron), Emily (Jesse), Charlotte (Cody); brothers, Bill (Kristy), Andy (Brianna), Kevin (Heather), Vince, and Jay (Brooke); brothers-in-law, Todd (Holly), Nathan (Jayne) and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by Marlene Reilly, Owen and Phyllis Reilly, Jean Siewert, Donnie Ellegard and several aunts and uncles.

Rick’s family would like to thank the Fargo VA, especially Tara Charboneau, along with Bethany and Penny in the Infusion Center. We also want to extend a special thank you to Dr. Erik Fetner of Sanford for his exceptional care and kindness.
