Robert A. "Bob" Ullrich, 87, of Lake Park, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at St. Mary's Regional Health Center, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota.Bob was born March 27, 1921, in Downer, Minnesota to Marcus and Emma Kelting Ullrich. Bob attended country school until moving to Lake Park, Minnesota in 1936. Bob served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945, where he served in the 36th Engineers Texas Division in five invasions during the European Theatre, where he received a Bronze Star. He was a charter member of the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C. He was also a member of the American Legion in Lake Park. Bob married Jessie Nelson on February 28, 1948 in Hawley, Minnesota, together they had six children. Following their marriage they resided in Lake Park, Minnesota, where Bob was co-owner of Bob and Erv's Gas Station. Later he owned and operated a road construction company. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards and operating equipment. Blessed be the memory of Bob Ullrich, he will be missed dearly by those who knew him.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jessie Ullrich, Lake Park, MN; four sons, Cameron Corrine Ullrich, Lake Park, MN, Curt Shelley Ullrich, Lake Park, MN, Clay Ullrich, Lake Park, MN, and Clyde Ullrich, Castle Rock, CO; two daughters, Carmen Drew McDavid, Detroit Lakes, MN, and Cathy Don Qualley, Lake Park, MN; one sister, Lucille Seabrook, Pleasanton, CA; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Ullrich, Lake Park, MN, and Ann Ullrich, Woodland, CA; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edwin and Sidney Ullrich; and one sister, Gladys Schreiter; and one grandson, Andrew "Tripp" McDavid III.
