Robert “Bob” Hauser Jr.

Robert “Bob” Hauser Jr., 71, Detroit Lakes, MN, died May 25, 2019, at Rosewood on Broadway in Fargo, ND under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Robert Lind Hauser Jr. was born April 13, 1948, in Grand Forks, ND, to Robert Sr. and Colleen (Bushaw) Hauser. He attended St. Michael’s Elementary School, graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks and attended the University of North Dakota.

Bob married Ellen “Ellie” Owens on August 10, 1988, in Sturgis S.D. and they made their home on Long Lake near Detroit Lakes.

Working on the railroad was in his blood, as Bob followed many generations of his family into the railroad business. Bob worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe as an engineer for over 30 years.  His true passions in life were working on the railroad and riding motorcycles. He loved Harley-Davidson bikes and he was a member of and rode with the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club for many years.  Bob loved spending time at his lake home all year long, whether it be relaxing on the pontoon or ice fishing. He also enjoyed going to outdoor music festivals and taking regular trips to Sturgis, S.D. with his wife, Ellie.

Bob is survived by his wife, Ellie; his mother, Colleen Hauser, ­­­­­­Fargo; his children, Mandi (Brad) Tucker, Seminole, FL, Sara Hauser, Dilworth, MN, Patrick Hauser, Moorhead, and Kelly Hauser (Jeff Rietz), Moorhead; grandchildren, Haleigh and Nick Stowers, Ella and Emma Reitz, Tru Olstad, and Eli and Lydia Tucker; sisters, Cynthia (Frank) Schulte, Houston, TX, Cheryl (Trygve) Olson, Moorhead, Lizbeth (Bryan) Hughes, Fargo; and  brother, Jeff Hauser (Sunnie Andreu), Grand Forks, ND. He was preceded in death by his father.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Rosewood on Broadway and Hospice of the Red River Valley for all the loving, compassionate care they provided to Bob.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, June 2, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a memorial service beginning at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
