Robert “Bob” Koenig

Robert Koenig was born November 4, 1943, in Fargo, ND, the son of Raymond and Nora Koenig. Bob died peacefully in his sleep on December 21, 2011, in Unity Hospital, Fridley, MN, at the age of 68 following a courageous battle of Frontal Lobe Dementia.He became a child of God through infant baptism on January 17, 1944. He reaffirmed his faith commitment to Jesus Christ when he was confirmed on June 9, 1957 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN by Rev. Hanneman. He was a faithful member at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church for 66 years.Bob graduated from Moorhead High School in 1961 and Wahpeton State School of Science in 1964 with an electrical technology degree.On June 6, 1964 Bob married Marlene Olson and was blessed with 47 years of married life together. He served in the U.S. Army which included a tour of duty in Viet Nam. He was employed by Western Electric and Addem Inc. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. Bob was a beloved husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He is survived by his wife Marlene Koenig, Moorhead; son Shane Rebecca Koenig, Moorhead; three grandchildren, Felicity 13, Emily 14 and Kaeden 9, mother Nora Koenig, Osseo, MN; brother Randy Holly Koenig, Jordan, MN; sisters Joyce Thomas Sokol, Brooklyn Park, MN, Joanne Dan Schipper, Elk River, MN; and 5 nephews, Nate Erin Schipper, Michael Sokol, Matthew Angie Sokol, Isaac Koenig and Dillon Hinz. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Koenig.
