Robert Carroll Jacobson

Robert Carroll Jacobson, 81, of Vergas, MN, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley in Oak Crossing Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes, MN. Robert was born on September 2, 1936 to Alfred and Emma (Sather) Jacobson in Clear Brook, MN.

Robert attended and graduated from Clear Brook High School before moving to Moorhead, MN. In Moorhead, he worked as a Maintenance Engineer for Moorhead Public Schools. In 1958, Robert enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1961. Robert was united in marriage to Ann Marie Abaz on August 12, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. After totaling 35 years with Moorhead Public Schools, Robert began working at the YMCA for 10 years. He then worked for Pelican Rapids School, Frazee Schools, and Detroit Lakes Tech. as a substitute Maintenance Engineer. Robert retired in 2014 due to illness.

Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was known to his family as a jack of all trades. He loved taking care of everybody, especially his family. He was always there for his family whenever anybody needed anything.

Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ann Marie; children, Sandra (Dan) Vareberg, Steve Jacobson, Carol (Robert) Langer, and Cathleen (Clifford) Moe; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, James (Patricia) Jacobson; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Emma; brother, Frank Jacobson; parents-in-law, John and Sofia Abaz; and sister-in-law, Hildegard Smith.

Visitation: Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 3:00PM-7:30PM with a prayer service at 7:30PM at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN.

Funeral: Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 11:00AM with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.

Burial: Moorhead Memorial Gardens following the service in Moorhead.
