Robert E. Hanson

Robert E. Hanson, 85, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, November 20, 2019, at Farmstead Care in Moorhead. Robert was born December 19, 1933, in Fergus Falls, MN, to Llyal and Mildred (Eaton) Hanson. He attended school in Fergus Falls and graduated in 1952. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for 2 ½ years. After returning home, he continued his education at Wahpeton State School of Science.

Robert married Gloria Aarness on September 3, 1961. Over the years, he worked at Bristol Distributing and later S & S Electronics until retiring in 1996. During retirement, he volunteered at the VA Hospital for 10 years and enjoyed ushering at Trinity Lutheran Church over the past 50 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gloria; his daughters, Tammy (Kyle) Dorow of West Fargo, ND, Stacey (Jim) Nilsson of Duluth, MN; seven grandchildren, Chelsey, Macie, Amber and Cody Dorow, Tyler, Abby and Connor Nilsson. He is also survived by his sisters, Beth (Dale) Fretland of Lakeland, MN, Jeannie (Bill) Pahan of Alexandria, MN; and sister-in-law, Joan Hanson

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Llyal and Mildred; and brothers, Llyal Jr., and Richard.

Memorials will be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be Monday, December 2, from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1:30 p.m., in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.

Final resting place will be Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
