Robert Francis Woodbury

Robert Francis Woodbury, 78, of Fargo, ND, passed away in Essentia Health Hospital, Fargo, ND, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019.

Robert was born on November 3, 1940, to Alvah and Josephine (Burns) Woodbury in Beverly, MA. He graduated from Beverly High School in 1958 and went on to earn his teaching degree from MSUM in Moorhead. He taught junior high school in Washington state before beginning his work with General Motors. Robert was united in marriage to Patricia Kompelien on May 1, 1971. His work with General Motors moved him and his family to Des Moines, IA, Bettendorf, IA, Mosinee, WI, and finally settled in Moorhead, MN in 1993. He retired in 2005. Patricia passed away on July 15, 2014. After Patricia’s passing, Robert moved to Fargo and lived the rest of his life in Edgewood Senior Living.

Robert loved his family more than anything, and was a supportive brother, father, and grandfather. He always changed his schedule to plan his business trips around his family’s events. He loved attending his children and grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. He will be greatly missed by his loving family.

Robert enjoyed golfing, coin collecting, watching auto racing, and keeping up with the nation’s weather via The Weather Channel on television.

Robert is survived by his children, Jason (Brenda) Woodbury, Jennifer Woodbury, and Shawn (Wendy) Woodbury; grandchildren, Justice Noel, Saida Noel, Hayden Woodbury, and Jackson Woodbury; siblings, Cynthia (John) Woodbury Ventola, and Richard Woodbury; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvah and Josephine; loving wife, Patricia; brothers, Donald and Jack; and sister, Joan Liberti.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. with a time for family and friends to gather from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Edgewood Senior Living for the special care they gave to Robert.
