Robert G. Brandt

Robert Glenn Brandt, 81, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016, surrounded by family at Eventide Senior Living Center in Moorhead, MN.

Robert Glenn Brandt was born on May 25, 1935 to Frederick “Fred” and Erna Evert Brandt at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead. He was baptized July 7, 1935 and confirmed May 29, 1949 in Sabin at Trinity Church by Pastor Schum. He grew up on the family farm near Comstock, MN. Attending school in Comstock and graduating from Comstock High School in 1953. He enlisted in the Air National Guard of North Dakota on October 18, 1953. On July 31, 1954, he married Eleanor K. Brakke in Hoff Lutheran Church in Rustad, MN, and remained members there until they transferred their membership to Comstock in 1958. Together they made their home in Comstock, MN, with daughters Theresa and Sandra while continuing to farm with the family. The last 43 years he continued farming with his brother Duane until retiring in 1999. He was involved with the Comstock Wildlife Club, Sabin Darkhouse Fishing, past member of the Comstock City Council and past Comstock Church Council member. He enjoyed spending time bowling, fishing and hunting with friends. And, also loved spending time at his lake home with family and friends. They moved to Moorhead in April 2013.

Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor of Moorhead, MN; children, Theresa David Nelson of Moorhead, MN, Sandra Mark Anderson of Comstock, MN; grandchildren, Kelly Matt Diercks of Farmington, MN, Kirk Ashlee Anderson of St. Paul, MN, Derrick Amber Cusey Nelson of Moorhead, MN, Samantha Nelson of Moorhead, MN; great-grandchildren, Andi, Bo and Riley Diercks of Farmington, MN; brothers, Duane Virgie Brandt, Moorhead, MN, Harold Ardelle Brandt of Moorhead, MN; sisters-in-law, Karen Ron Offutt of Fargo, ND, Rhoda Brakke of Moorhead, MN, Dorothy Brakke of Fargo, ND, Shirley Brakke of Fargo, ND; brother-in-law, Norm Brakke of Everett, WA; special family, Paul, Brenda, Denetre and Zac Anderson of Comstock, MN, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, LaVon Brandt, Larry Brandt; sisters-in-law, Mildred Delbert Evert, Bev Carl Carlson, Verlee Brandt, Helen Brakke, Sheila Brakke; brothers-in-law, Orris Lorraine Brakke, Milton Brakke, H. Donald Brakke, Gordy Brakke and 5 neices and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all who visited him while he was ill. In addition, a special thanks to the 3rd floor staff at Eventide Senior Living Center who were so kind and caring.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral will be Wednesday, August 10, at 11:00 a.m., in Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock, MN.

Interment will be in Comstock Lutheran Cemetery, Comstock, MN.
