Robert G. Fatland

Robert “Bob” G. Fatland, 70, of Fargo, ND, died Saturday, July 1, 2017, in his home.

Robert Glen Fatland was born August 3, 1946, at St. Ansgar’s Hospital in Moorhead, MN, to Glen and Esther Jensen Fatland. He grew up and attended school in Fargo and graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1964. During his senior year in high school, he began working for University Motors in Fargo setting up the new motorcycles. He also worked for some time at the Red River Scene, a newspaper out of Moorhead. He traveled to Gardena, CA and attended Honda school several times, eventually becoming the Honda lead mechanic and service manager at University Motors, where he worked until 1989.

In 1967, Bob met Charlotte Becker at Chub’s Pub in Fargo. They were united in marriage on September 28, 1968, at Vernon Center, MN. They made their home in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

As a man who always wanted to be busy, Bob had many hobbies and interests over the years. He loved to ride motorcycles and he collected a huge HO train set that filled one entire room of his house. He loved working in the garage with tools, restoring and fixing things. He enjoyed collecting and rebuilding tractor lawn sprinklers and he also collected Legos. He also enjoyed flying remote control airplanes, and more recently, flying his drones. Bob loved helping Charlotte out in the kitchen with her baking. He will be remembered for his chocolate chip cookies, apple pies and Lefse, as they were favorites of his friends. Robert and Charlotte loved to entertain, and there was always a gathering of friends in their kitchen. Every Friday night for many years, they hosted the Friday night group of friends in their home.

Bob is survived by his wife of 48 years, Charlotte; his brother, Dennis Tina Fatland, of Lutz, FL, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
