Robert L. Gullard, 64, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on August 9, 2021, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.
Robert Lee Gullard was born to Emery and Marion (Jacobson) Gullard on June 22, 1957, in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Callaway Lutheran Church and attended school in Lake Park, MN.
In 1975 he met the love of his life, Betty Retz, and they were married in 1976. That year they welcomed their only son, Joey. Later in life they accepted Kyle Sandland into their home like another son.
Robert enjoyed 30+ years of farming. His passion started with mowing ditches and bailing hay but grew into animals and other crop. He spent many days at the sales barn. Robert owned his own roofing company and later purchased Gullard Construction from his father. Many people who worked for him considered him a father figure. He and Betty also owned and operated Bob’s Convenience Store for 23 years.
Whether it was at the farm, cafe, or convenience store, the coffee was always on and he was always going somewhere for breakfast. He was extremely generous and had no problem going without so others had. His family was the most important thing to him.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Joey (Anita), Kyle (Sarah) Sandland; grandchildren, Rilee (Levi), Tressa, Kiara, Kadynce, Chester, Leo, and Madison; brother, Lyle; sisters, Barbara (Norman) Branden, Nancy (Bob) Villard, and Bonnie Korth; and sisters-in-law, Betty and Sharon.
