Robert M. Mikulecky

Robert Milhart Mikulecky, 88, of Ulen, Minnesota, passed away on May 16, 2013 at Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen.

Robert M. Mikulecky was born June 2, 1924, at Hitterdal, Minnesota, to Frank and Elizabeth Sic Mikulecky. He attended school in Hitterdal and worked on the family farm. After his parents passed away, Robert farmed the homestead and had a dairy operation with his brother, Frank. They spent many years restoring tractors and gas engines accumulating a large collection of John Deere tractors which they became infamous for over the years. After Frank passed in 1998, Robert spent time attending many farm auctions but with declining health, Robert moved into assisted living at the Viking Manor in Ulen, Minnesota in 2012, where he spent many hours reminiscing with the other residents, friends, and family.

Robert’s love for family, quiet ways and sense of humor will always remain a part of his nieces’ and nephews’ fond memories of him along with family picnics and fishing trips at Cormorant Lake, helping can the garden harvest, and finishing a hard day on the farm with “barley pop”, Lipton soup and fresh homegrown strawberries and cream.

Robert is survived by five nieces: Marlene Duffney and Linda Havir, Minneapolis, MN, Cheryl Larry Froehlich, Crookston, MN, Mary Lou Tom Kusserow, Tempe, AZ, Carol Charles Lego, North Olmsted, OH; and six nephews: David Mim Mikulecky, Great Falls, MT, Gary Eileen Mikulecky, Sebring, FL, Todd Lois Mikulecky, Hawley, MN, Dale Joyce Hendrickson, St. Michael, MN, Miles Teresa Hendrickson, Bagley, MN, and Kevin Hendrickson, Crookston, MN.

Funeral: Monday, May 20, 2013, 1:00 p.m., Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
Visitation: one hour before the service in the funeral home.
Interment: Tuesday, May 21, 2013, 2:00 p.m., Bohemian National Cemetery, Rich Valley Township,
near Silver Lake, MN.
