Robert R. Voss

Robert Ralph Voss, 86, of Hawley, MN, died Friday, August 25, 2017, at Viking Manor in Ulen, MN, with many of his loving family by his side.
Robert was born September 11, 1930, in Graceville, MN, to Harry and Ann Beeler Voss. He went to elementary school in Nashua, MN and graduated from high school in Tintah, MN in 1948. Born with a strong work ethic, Robert began working for area farmers when he was 11 years old. After graduation, he attended the Gale Institute in Minneapolis for telegraphy. He worked as a telegrapher for the Northern Pacific Railroad until 1971. He then went to work for Ulven Gravel, which eventually became Kost Gravel and then Aggregate, until his stroke in 2005.
Robert was united in marriage to Marlys Bueng on February 4, 1951, in Twin Valley, MN. They made their home at Manitoba Junction for 9 years and then moved to Hawley in 1960. Together they had three children, Douglas, Lori and Tami. In 2011 Robert became a resident of Viking Manor in Ulen.
Robert enjoyed fishing, bowling, and doing word search and word scramble puzzles. The many blessings in his life include his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family most of all.
Robert is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marlys; his children, Doug Voss Sharon Parmer, Lori Ron Rheault, and Tami Scott Stillwell; 8 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren plus 2 on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Delmer Voss and his wife Judy; and sister, Lois Tolbert and her husband Frank.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 31, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 1, 2017, at Hawley Lutheran Church. Interment will in in Hawley Cemetery.
