Robert "Shane" Cartwright

Robert “Shane” Cartwright, age 63, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Sanford Hospital.

Shane was born in Fargo, ND on October 20, 1961, to Robert and Phyllis Cartwright.

He attended elementary school in Fargo, ND and junior high and high school in Bismarck, ND. After he graduated high school, he went on to college at North Dakota State University.

After graduating from NDSU, he started a very challenging and successful career as a banking regulator through several federal agencies. His career spanned over 40 years.

Shane met his wife Anita Anderson through mutual friends. They married on February 5, 1994. Through this marriage they were blessed with a daughter, Lauren.

Shane loved the outdoors. He loved spending time at his place on the lake and cruising on the pontoon. He loved fishing and hunting. He was also an animal lover. He always had his dogs and enjoyed taking them for walks.

Shane loved music and knew all kinds of facts about bands and individual musicians. He enjoyed going to concerts and the Blues Fest every year.

Shane was a big sports fan-he would go crazy over a Vikings game. He also enjoyed the Twins and the Bison.

He was also a wonderful cook. He liked to describe what he was cooking and how it tasted.

Shane enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He could go up to anyone and start up a conversation. Many times he could be heard saying “hey governor.”

He was a loving husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Shane is survived by his wife, Anita, Moorhead, MN; daughter, Lauren, Moorhead, MN; mother, Phyllis (Jollie) Cartwright, Belcourt, ND; brother, Joe Cartwright, Belcourt, ND; sister, Tina (Greg) Laverdure, Coleraine, MN; sister, Sherry Cartwright, Belcourt, ND; father-in-law, Eugene Anderson, Moorhead, MN; as well as his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Shane is preceded in death by his father, Robert Cartwright; maternal grandparents, Edward “Chick” Jollie and Philomene “Swede” Jollie; paternal grandparents, Thomas Cartwright and Victoria Allery Cartwright.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at The Sanctuary Events Center, Fargo, ND, at 1:00 P.M., with visitation starting at 12:00 P.M. Pastor Carl “Chip” Nielsen will be officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.
