Moorhead, MN

Rodney Finck, 70, Moorhead, MN passed away in his home on April 22nd, 2023 surrounded by family.

Rodney was born in Bismarck, ND to Edgar and Irene (Rath) Finck in 1953. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1971 and later from Law Enforcement Training Academy.

Rodney was called to serve the public as a Law Enforcement Officer from 1979-2000. He worked as Police Officer for Jamestown Police Department from 1979-1989, Lidgerwood Police Department from 1989-1990, and served as a Deputy Sheriff for McHenry County from 1990-1992 before being elected Sheriff of McHenry County in 1992, a position he proudly held until retiring from Law Enforcement in 2000.

Rodney then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he worked in a variety of positions until he was no longer able to work due to the progression of his cancer.

Rodney loved the great outdoors. Anytime he could spend hunting and fishing was time well spent. He particularly enjoyed fishing with his family and spending time at his daughter’s lake cabin in Minnesota. Rodney was able to enjoy hog hunting trips in Texas, elk hunting in Colorado, and several trips in North Dakota chasing ducks, geese, pheasants and deer. His friends, family, and 4 legged companions enjoyed hunting with him.

Rodney loved to collect things as well as memories. He had a story and a purpose for everything that he owned, but was always willing to share his things with those he loved.

Rodney is survived by his wife (Gloriann) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and his children: Tina (Matthew) Christenson of Moorhead, MN, Tiffany (Gary) Dawson of Jamestown, ND, Travis (Diana) of Jamestown, ND, Dustin, Cody (fiance Caycee Garcia), and Chalise all of Colorado Springs, Colorado, as well as 8 grandchildren Thalia & Karena (Tina) Christenson, Kendra, Jaxton, Mya & Naaric (Tiffany) Dawson, Hudson & Parker (Travis) Finck, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Todd, Gary, and Perry, sister Sylvia, his first wife, Jacque, and one grandchild Laiah Jane.

A celebration of Rodney’s life will be held in Jamestown on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 at the Buffalo City Gun Club on the Stutsman County Fairgrounds.
