Roger C. Kragerud, 61, of Hawley, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.Roger was born August 5, 1942, the son of Pearl Sandeen and Irving Kragerud. He graduated from Hawley High School in 1960 and attended Mayville State College from 1960-1961. He enrolled and served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965. He was employed by Hinrick Envelope and Hallett Construction from 1965-1968. Roger married Diana Cresap on July 6, 1968 at Hawley Lutheran Church. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Social Studies education from Moorhead State University in 1971. He was employed by the Springfield MN Public School District 1971-1972, Chokio-Alberta MN Public School District 1972-1983, and Hawley Public School District 1983-2002. He retired from teaching in May 2002. He was a dedicated teacher who received the Student Council Teacher of the Year Award and Outstanding Educator of the Year Award. He displayed a love for teaching and truly cared for each and every one of his students. Throughout his teaching career, Roger coached many sports including football, basketball, track and volleyball. He was a positive role model for many student athletes. He was preceded in death by his father, Irving, and his mother, Pearl.He is survived by his wife, Diana Kragerud, Hawley, MN; one son, Randy Jana Kragerud, Becker, MN; one daughter, Sara Ryan Koepp, Plymouth, MN; one sister, Marlys Wilson, Sterling, VA; one grandchild, Benjamin Kragerud; and several beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and aunts.Roger was a gentle and loving husband, father, and grandfather. Family was his first love. He touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed by all.
