Roger Duane Sinkler

Roger Duane Sinkler, 92, of Fargo, ND, formerly of Moorhead, MN, passed away on November 17, 2018, at Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. Roger was born on January 28, 1926, to Henry and Virginia (McCann) Sinkler in New Rockford, ND.

At the age of 17, Roger enlisted in the military and fought with the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his return, he began his career at Harold’s Optical. In 1965, he started his own business, Sinkler Optical. He retired in 1988 and spent much of his time either in Arizona or at his lake cabin on Sugar Bush Lake with his wife, Mary. Mary passed away in 1998. He was remarried on December 26, 1998 to Phyllis Gilderhus. Roger and Phyllis would spend their time in Arizona or at the cabin. In 2008 they settled permanently in Fargo, ND.

Roger is survived by his children, Susan (Pat Stenerson) Sinkler, John (Michelle) Sinkler, Ginny (Dick) Kunz, and Paul (Maureen) Sinkler; grandchildren, Michael, Becky, Natalie, Emma, Nolan (Aimee), Garrett, and Adam; great-grandson, Connor; wife, Phyllis; Phyllis’ children, Jan (Jon) Morris, Jadene (Mark) Weber, Teri (Ray) Anthony-Remler, and Keith (Connie) Gilderhus; her 6 grandchildren; her 6 great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Virginia; first wife, Mary; daughter, Kathleen; and 11 brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Final resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Fargo Veterans Administration, Wishes On Wings.
