Roland A. Cote

Roland A. Cote, 86, Fargo, ND, died on September 16, 2011 in Fargo, ND. Roland Andrew Cote was born on November 10, 1925 in Elk Point, So Dakota, the son of Alcid A. and Mary Louise Loiselle Cote. He attended the Cecil Township School near Willow City and then Notre Dame Academy at Willow City graduating high school in 1943. Roland then farmed for a short time. In 1946, he married Marion King. They moved to Montana in 1952 where Roland drove 18 wheelers and spent time working in the copper mine, as well as sold life insurance. They then moved to California where Roland worked as a Route Foreman for a dairy for 12 1/2 years. The family returned to ND in 1968, purchased a farm, and milked and tended 200 cows for 10 years near Edgeley. Marion was diagnosed with cancer, so they sought treatment in California and Buffalo, N.Y. where Marion passed away in 1980. Roland moved back to ND where he married Marilyn Hutton on December 12, 1980 in Grand Forks. They made Hopkins, MN their home before moving to Moorhead, MN in 1982. Roland opened and operated a cosmetology shop for 23 years in Moorhead. They finally settled in Fargo ND for their retirement years. During his retirement years, Roland was active in and enjoyed volunteer work, dancing, playing cards and woodworking.Roland's survivors include; his wife, Marilyn; 4 daughters: Kathline Raymond Hennessey, Hamburg, NY; Linda David-deceased Lewis, Crestview, FL; Julie Bobby Halperin, Chicago, IL; Robyn Bays, Fargo, ND; 6 sons: Monte Laura Cote, San Juan Capistrano, CA; Brian Lynn Cote, West Plains, MO; Richard Madelyn Flannagan Cote, Springfield, VA; Jonathan Cote, Lafayette, CO; Martin Cheryl Cote, Thornton, CO; Robert Robin Cote, Shakopee, MN; More than 30 grandchildren, over 15 great grandchildren and 1 brother, Reverend Father Duaine M. Cote, Fargo, ND.He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one brother, two sisters, and 1 son-in-law.
