Ronald B. ’Ron’ Mccaskell

Ronald B. McCaskell, 80, of Dilworth, MN died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Golden Living Center, Moorhead, MN. Ronald McCaskell was born on December 30, 1931 on a farm in Lake Preston, SD to Bernelle and Vera Johnson McCaskell. The family moved to the McCaskell homestead North DeSmet, SD in 1932. Ronald attended country school in South Dakota. He graduated from DeSmet High School in 1950. He joined the South Dakota National Guard at age 17 and was activated in 1950 during the Korean conflict. After two years of active duty he joined the guard for a total of 14 years; attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class. Ronald attended South Dakota State College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree from Northern State College, Aberdeen, SD. He taught school and coached in South Dakota from 1956 – 1967. In 1967 he entered the insurance business in South Dakota, later moving to Minnesota. The family moved to Dilworth, MN in 1977 where he continued to work as an insurance agent. He married Nancy Hauck in Alaska in 1952. To this union, six were born. Ronald was also a member of the Dilworth Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, Dilworth , MN; four daughters, Jean Stuart, Dilworth, MN, Pat Rick Krone, Dilworth, MN, Terri Krone, Fargo, ND, Kay Lupkes, Watertown, SD; two sons, Phil McCaskell, Huron, SD and Tim McCaskell, Dilworth, MN; brother, Donald Janice McCaskell; ten grandchildren, Angela, Shane, Jason, Tanner, Toby, Chadd, Shannon, Ryan, Jaci and Joe and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Brad. Ronald graciously bequeathed his body to the University of North Dakota.
