Ronald Kuhl was born April 23, 1929 in Jamestown, ND to Everett and Celeste Kuhl. In 1930 his family moved to Watertown, SD where Ron’s dad owned a newspaper business. Ron and his mother moved to La Mesa, CA, in 1978 after his father passed away. While living there, Ron worked for CoCo’s Restaurant, in San Diego, CA as a kitchen Manager for fifteen years. It was in Watertown where Ron first became interested in the Cub Scouts, joining when he was eight years old. Ron was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over sixty years, volunteering with all ages and aspects of Scouting.
Ron’s mother passed away in 1997, and Ron moved to Hawley, MN to live closer to his niece and nephew-in-law and appointed guardians, Michelle & John Anderson. There he lived on the farm in his own home next to his niece until he moved into Hawley Senior Living in December of 2007. While he was a resident there Ron was well known for his volunteer efforts whether it was setting up for Bingo, church services, or transporting other residents to and from activities. He loved participating in all the activities, and is remembered for his positive outlook on life and big smile.
