Ronald “Ronn” Overland

Ronald Edwin Overland, 81, of Moorhead, MN, died peacefully on June 3, 2020, at Sanford Health Medical Center in Fargo, surrounded by his loving family.

Ronn was born June 24, 1938 in Crookston, MN, to Edwin and Helen (Moen) Overland. His family and close friends always called him Ronny. He graduated from Fertile High School in 1956.  After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany.  After discharge, he moved back to Fertile and worked for Northwestern Bell for several years. Ronn married Diana Anderson in 1966 and they had three children together.  Later in life, he attended Moorhead State University, graduating in 1980 with a degree in accounting and finance.  In 1989 he was united in marriage to Mardi Bjorkman and their family grew with the addition of Mardi’s four children.  Ronn and Mardi resided in Moorhead where he owned and operated an over-the-road trucking company for many years until his retirement.

Ronn enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his special pets, and hunting with family and friends at the hunting camp.

He is survived by his wife, Mardi, of Moorhead; sons, Royce (Angela) Overland, Sartell, MN, Chad (Sarah) Overland, Alexandria, MN and Ryan Overland, Fargo, ND; step-sons, Brian (Leah) Bjorkman, Fargo, Eric (Mari) Bjorkman, Moorhead; step-daughter, Anne (Dean) Simon, Moorhead; sister, Rebecca (Ajit) Venkatraman, Indian Wells, CA; brother, Harold (Jan) Overland, Perham, MN; grandchildren, Matt and Sam (children of Royce), Savannah, Summer, Brooke (children of Chad), Jacob and Logan (children of Ryan), Ella, Anna and Ethan (children of David), Jared and Joey (children of Brian), Aiden (child of Eric) and Carter and Cade (children of Anne). He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Karen Erickson; brother-in-law Norm Erickson; step-son, David Bjorkman and grandson, Conner Simon.

Visitation will be Monday, June 8, 2020, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a private family prayer service at 7:00 P.M., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. A public graveside service will be Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at 1:00 P.M., at Riverside Cemetery in Moorhead.
